Hi, I'm Coach Saeed and I want to create a volleyball community for our youth here in Riverdale
I was fortunate enough to grow up surrounded by teachers, volunteer coaches, and older students that gave their time and taught me the fundamentals of volleyball. As I got to high school and became more competitive in volleyball, it was my turn to mentor the younger kids so they could develop and become great at volleyball. My goal with the Riverdale Volleyball Club is to recreate this community for our youth.Volleyball is truly a team sport. You can have the best athlete on your team and lose every game. On the other hand, a bunch of kids that play well together can be impossible to beat. To be successful, volleyball demands that you think on your feet, communicate effectively, and work together on each play.

Clinics
We are offering development clinics for youth ages 10 - 14 during the Fall and Winter seasons. Myself and a few other volunteers have hosted these sessions at local schools in the Riverdale area (currently Earl Grey Senior Public School). We will charge fees on a cost-recovery basis to make these programs affordable.Beginner Sessions: These clinics will focus on basic skills (passing, setting and serving) and are designed for those new to the sport, regardless of age.Advanced Sessions: For the advanced sessions, participants are expected to be able to pass (bump and volley) consistently and with good form. Typically kids are 12 or older to be able to hit the ball over the net. These sessions focus more on team play, strategy, hitting, blocking and movement.
House League & Club
Down the road, when we have enough kids interested in gameplay, we will start a house league. This will be a chance for kids to demonstrate their skills, teamwork, and learn strategy in live games. This is also an opportunity for the older or more skilled youth to mentor the young ones and also referee matches. Way, way down the road, if we have a group of competitive kids, we could represent this club at matches and tournaments against other club teams.

SUMMER 2025:We will not be holding any formal volleyball clinics in the summer. However, we may try to host a community (informal) gathering at Ashbridges Bay to play some beach volleyball (open to all). Will email blast if / when this occurs.FALL 2025 & WINTER 2026 SEASONAnticipated Timing:
We plan to resume our beginner and advanced programming at some point in October or November 2025. While we have yet to obtain permits, these sessions are likely to be held weekly on Friday evenings at Earl Grey Senior Public School (6pm - 8pm). Winter sessions would be January to March 2026 with a similar schedule.Beginner v. Advanced Sessions: We will have a beginners session at 6pm and a more advanced session at 7pm for an hour each.
